@jasonmadri The idea that training is a good coping mechanism when life gets tough
@elee.panda Many reasons but top of mind is: 1. Be present. Forces me to unplug (it's hard to let your mind wander and worry about anything else when someone is trying to choke you out!) 2. Empowerment. As a women, I've encountered unpleasant and even dangerous situations. Learning to defend myself has given me the strength to heal and to learn the skills to protect myself and others that I care about. 3. Keeps me humble. Nothing worth having comes easy. Training is hard...some days I feel like I haven't improved at all. But learning to tap and to come back again, to be challenged day in and day out is growth. What's the point of living if you're not growing and learning?
