Photo by @PaulNicklen // Nurturing and committed, this Gentoo penguin pair cares for their new chick in the rock nest that they built together. These Antarctic birds have some fascinating courtship rituals, as potential mates will sometime share rocks with each other to display their interest in mating. This chick will remain in its nest for about a month and will reach sexual maturity at around two years of age, at which time it will find its own mate. #FollowMe at @PaulNicklen and explore my feed for more photos of penguins. #Antarctica #penguin #ocean #nature #photography

Photo by @taylorglenn // Alpenglow lights up the summit of the Grand Teton as the moon sets behind, a magical combination. Unfortunately the weather denied those of us in this part of Wyoming a chance to observe the lunar eclipse. But just two mornings after, the skies cleared and we were treated to this incredible scene. Photo by @jessicasamplegram // The rounded Alabama Hills are contrasted by the snow covered ridges of the Sierra Nevada which includes Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States. Many Westerns have been filmed in the Alabama Hills including “The Lone Ranger” and “Bonanza.” #california

Photo by @FransLanting // There are waterfalls…and then there is Iguacu. You can get close to dozens of thundering waterfalls like these from the Brazilian side, like shown here or from Argentina, but either way it’s one of the wonders of the world. Photo: @andy_mann // Of all the ways to say “hello”, I generally prefer this one. 😳 Intimate wildlife encounters are both exhilarating and immeasurably difficult to get. A little luck goes a long way. During a 2017 climbing expedition to Greenland, we encountered a curious polar bear from our zodiac boat. As it approached, I dunked my camera-housing in the frigid water as it took a dive, swam under our boat and away into the ice forever. And in the end, luck would have it 😉. // #followme @andy_mann for more unforgettable wildlife encounters from this amazing planet.

Photo by @gerdludwig. A view of the eastern ridges of the Smoky Mountains from Clingman's Dome; located on the state line of North Carolina and Tennessee at an elevation of 6643 feet, it  is the highest point on the Appalachian Trail.
In 1930, Great Smoky Mountains National Park became one of the largest protected areas of the eastern United States. It encompasses roughly 525,000 acres of lush landscapes (more tree species than in all of northern Europe), abundant wildlife (65 mammal and 230 bird species), and spectacular scenic beauty.

Photo by @CristinaMittermeier // When photographing in the Salish Sea, I sometimes find it hard to stay focused on one subject because there is so much life happening. Home to some of the most beautiful cold water reefs on the planet, this ecosystem provides abundant habitat for species that include orcas, humpback whales, stellar sea lions and giant Pacific octopuses. #FollowMe at @CristinaMittermeier and explore my feed for more #underwaterphotography. #SalishSea #biodiversity #nature #photography

Documenting new ways to live in cities and how we could live in the future is the central part of my work. I’ve embarked on a journey with @natgeo to showcase how London, one of the world’s busiest and fastest growing cities, is evolving. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was built for the 2012 Summer Olympics and since then many people visit it every day. During summertime it becomes an outdoor heaven for families, a real oasis in the middle of East London’s busy and heavily built streets. Follow me @lucalocatelliphoto to find out more about the London story I covered for @natgeo

play_circle_filled Video by @bertiegregory // Wandering albatross take part in what has to be once of the most incredible courtship displays in the animal kingdom. Bill vibrating, bill fencing, sky calling and posturing with their enormous 11ft wingspan is all part of the ritual. These albatross take great care in selecting a partner as the bond they form can last the rest of their lives. We had the great honour of filming this spectacle with the British Antarctic Survey. This incredible organisation has been studying the wanderers on Bird Island for over six decades! Follow @bertiegregory for more or watch the whole Wild_Life series at natgeo.com/wildlife
