On December 27, 2018 around 7:15pm, Weyburn RCMP contacted WPS about a stolen truck driving towards Weyburn. Weyburn Police officers found the truck driving in Weyburn and activated their emergency equipment to stop the vehicle. The driver of the stolen truck refused to stop for officers and the pursuit was immediately terminated due to safety concerns. After multiple calls about the vehicle in and around Weyburn, police again found the driver of the vehicle driving in a dangerous manner. A spike belt was successfully deployed, but despite flattened tires the driver of the stolen truck refused to stop for police. At 10:15pm, WPS located the vehicle in a yard outside of Weyburn. The vehicle then fled into a field, with WPS and RCMP in pursuit. The vehicle eventually stopped on a grid west of the airport. A 23 year old male was arrested and transported to WPS. Preliminary WPS charges include Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Disqualified Driving and Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Recognizance. RCMP charges are pending. #dontstealvehicles #youwillgetcaught
